There are the inevitable minor dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use.
Marble: there are inevitable chips especially to the edges. There are inevitable stains and scratches to the surface.
Gilding: the pair has been regilded. There are inevitable wears revealing the red bole and white gesso.
Structure: each lower element of the ring has been reinforced with later rectangular wooden pieces to the back. The left back foot of one console has been restored. There are some shrinkage cracks to the lower element at the junctions due to the construction, as expected.
