On spreading base chased with large shells and foliage on matted ground, the body embossed and chased with the story of Judith and Holofernes depicting Judith holding in her arms the crowned head of Holofernes, cheered by the inhabitants of Bethulia, the hinged cover chased with a seated Judith depicted as a Virgin holding Holofernes' head, marked on foot-rim: town and maker, engraved on underside with 'AIII No 2' and weight 'WIG'T 86 lot'
