Citons un paire de vases similaires pasée en vente chez Sotheby's le 14 avril 2010 à Paris, lot 22 présentant un profil plus simple sans monture de bronze.
François-Paul Utzschneider, et Joseph Fabry mirent au point au début du XIXe siècle de tous nouveaux procédés permettant de simuler en grès différentes pierres dures telles que le porphyre, le jaspe, le marbre, le basalte et le granite. Cet ingénieux procédé leur vaudra la médaille d'or lors de l'Exposition des Produits de l'Industrie de 1802, ainsi que plusieurs commandes impériales entre 1810 et 1814. The vase is slightly titled and can be straight.
