The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage un peu fort, qui a pu aplatir la matière par endroits. La toile est maintenue sous tension sur un châssis à clés, rapporté. L'ensemble est stable.
Le tableau a préservé de jolis coloris dans les détails architecturaux, ainsi que la touche liquide du peintre dans les figures.
On constate un amincissement de la couche picturale dans les bruns et les bleus de la composition, révélant la préparation ocre sur le sol et les architectures de la place Saint-Marc ainsi que dans le ciel. De la litharge est visible dans la partie centrale du tableau, dans les architectures.
L'examen à l'UV révèle une importante campagne de restauration dans le ciel, tout principalement dans la partie inférieure et la partie droite du ciel (campanile, nuages, autour des architectures, etc.). L'examen à l'UV révèle également quelques retouches ponctuelles dans la partie ombragée de la place Saint-Marc. Le tableau est sous un vernis épais qui empêche probablement de voir des restaurations antérieures.

The painting has undergone a somewhat strong relining, which may have flattened the paint surface in places. The canvas is held under tension on a keyed stretcher. The overall structure is stable.
The painting has retained attractive colours in the architectural details, as well as the painter’s fluid brushwork in the figures.
There is some thinning of the paint layer in the brown and blue passages of the composition, revealing the ochre ground in the pavement and the architecture of the Piazza San Marco, as well as in the sky. Points of oxidisation are visible in the central part of the painting in the architecture.
UV examination reveals a significant campaign of restoration in the sky, particularly in the lower and right-hand sections (the campanile, clouds, around the architecture, etc.). UV examination also reveals some localised retouching in the shaded area of the Piazza San Marco. The painting is covered by a thick varnish, which precludes a more in depth examination.
