The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Good overall condition.
The illustrations published to the website catalogue are accurate.
There are inevitable dents, marks, scratches and ribbing due to age and use.
Stable structure.
Marble tops with inevitable chips to the edges, especially a few on the left part of both back edges.
As stated to the catalogue, the veneer with some replacements as expected, especially one on the lower part of the right upright of one commode. Gomme-laque traces on some places, especially around the bronze handles and along the uprights. Under close inspection, some minor cracks and associated losses are visible to the veneer, especially close to the upper right handle of one commode.
The left back foot of one commode has been reinforced with a later wooden block.
One commode is slightly more sunfaded than the other, as visible on the catalogue illustrations.
Each drawer is upholstered inside with a cream colour silk (with some stains and wears due to use as expected).
Gilt bronze: with some signs of tarnishing throughout as expected, and dust.
The escutcheon of the upper drawer of one commode is associated but still 18th century.
The ring pull of the lower right drawer on the other commode is associated, 19th century.
