The arms are those of Master impaling Turnor for James Master (1627-1702), of East Langdon, co. Kent and his wife Joyce, daughter of Sir Christopher Turnor, Kt. of Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire, whom he married in 1667. The eldest of their ten daughters married in 1691, Admiral Byng and in 1700 Master alienated the family estate at East Langdon to Admiral Aylmer.
