The circular, glazed enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters signed Faizan à Paris, set within a rectangular plinth with crossed roses to the base and surmounted by further flowers in a trelliswork basket, to one side of which stands a classically-draped lady emblematic of Love and, to the other, Cupid, standing upon a cloudburst and holding a flaming torch, the bow-fronted rectangular plinth with a central bas relief of playful putti flanked by fluted panels and stylised palmette and stiff-leaf panels to the ends, on pearled and engine-turned bun feet, with 19th Century printed label to the underside EIGENTUM SEINER MAJESTAT DES KONIGS FERDINAND VON BULGARIEN, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike to bell

Faizant is recorded as working in Paris on the rue St-Denis in 1806. He used the signatures Faisant à Paris and Faizan à Paris.

H.M. King Ferdinand of Bulgaria (1861-1948) reigned from 1908 until he abdicated in 1918.
