The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall in good, decorative condition and ready to place. The frames with typical scattered light nicks, faint marks, surface scuffs and scratches. Some visible seams and joins. With some further small dings, minor chips and some losses to the carved decoration, including to the back left foot of the settee. With some minor restorations, primarily at the joins, including to the arms of the bergeres where the meet the seat-back, well concealed by current gilding treatment. The frames regilt and now with some minor rubbing; with some cracking, lifting, flaking and losses revealing gesso and bare wood, including to the proper right arm of one of the bergeres and the reverse of the settee, not extensive. The upholstery with light staining, surface wear consistent with age and use, and with a slight buildup of surface dirt. With some scattered small restorations to the tapestry. With some wear to the velvet upholstery on the reverse, including a small tear to the canape. General wear commensurate with age and use. Presents very well overall.
