The leather writing surface later, with the typical scratches, scuffs and marks consistent with use. The ormolu border around the top replaced, the wood molding beneath it with replacements. Some discolored areas at the top, possibly a result of water damage. The brass inlay with some scattered lifting, polish residue and re-engraving, some minor chips and cracks throughout the ebony ground. Several of the brass drawer dividers and inset strips replaced. Evidence of some old worm damage, now inactive. Some fading to the ebony of the stretchers.
