Generally presenting well, structurally sound, ready to place. As noted in the cataloguing, differences to carving between the armchairs and side chairs, probably matched as a suite. The side chairs, as noted, have been reshaped with later blocks at the lower edges of their seat-rails to create a serpentine profile; the yellow numbers to the insides of their rails have been sawn-through in the process. The armchairs with reinforcements along the upper edges of their seat-rails, just below the webbing. All with later corner blocks. With scattered age and construction cracks. Overall with general marks, nicks, surface scratches, tiny losses and repairs consistent with age and use. Various old repaired breaks throughout the suite, most notably to the arm supports, chair backs and legs, commensurate with age and use. A few replaced legs. The upholstery with minor marks, faint discoloration and overall signs of wear, as to be expected from use.
