The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The vase was made in two halves and luted together, and at the time of firing these seams started to separate in areas and the resulting firing cracks were filled; these seams/firing cracks extend up from the base at each side, visible to the interior. The bottom of the vase and feet have further firing cracks in the making that are now obscured by spray, making the exterior look essentially flawless, with further tiny restorations to chips to the feet. The gilding on the vase possibly lightly refreshed, the gilding on the cover certainly refreshed. As per the catalogue description, the mounts are 19th century and later. The cover is a replacement, likely bone china and possibly made by Minton.
