The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Chinese famille rose vase: section of neck and rim measuring approx. 13 cm. wide broken and re-stuck with discoloured old restoration with overpainting and associated small chips in-filled, base drilled for conversion to lamp. Not examined out of its base and mounts. Some rubbing to enamels and small scattered small enamel losses.
Chinese blue and white vase: not examined out of its base; the neck is missing with some shallow ground chips to rim and the vase has been fitted for electricity; there is a body crack running up one side from the base extending approx. 15.5 cm. long with associated small chip to base; and there is a second smaller body crack measuring approx. 8 cm. long.
Italian drug jar: the base drilled. The glaze with marks, scratches and wear. With a hairline crack running from the upper rim to the reverse and another to the front. The rim and foot not examined as the mount was not removed. The shade tired and worn with a soldered repair to the frame. The silk perished.
The French celadon lamp: The porcelain in good overall condition. The body without integral base and possibly originally conceived as a lamp. Probably originally an oil lap and adapted. The underside of the base with associated mount. The shade a little marked and worn.
As with all lighting Christie's recommend that these lamps are PAT tested by a qualified electrician prior to any intended use.
