The barrel encasement with white enamel dial with Roman chapters, surrounded by a stiffleaf border and encased in drapery, on a spreading socle on a plinth, the figures modelled as Diana and Endymion, with Endymion sleeping against the barrel encasement behind Cupid armed with an arrow, the figure of Diana with a quiver on her back above stylised clouds, a bow and a sleeping hound, on a moulded rectangular white marble plinth inset with granit de vosges panels with beaded surrounds, the dial signed 'Thonissen a Paris'
