CASE: the hood with brass flambeau vase finials, glazed front door flanked by columns and glazed sides, pierced sound fret, the trunk with four volutes, plain door with outer moulding, stepped plinth and skirting
DIAL: 11 inch square gilt-brass dial, the silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, sword-hilt half hour markers and cross half-quarter hour markers, inner seconds ring and date square, pierced blued steel hands, twin-screwed 'Indian mask and scroll' spandrels with foliate engraving between, the lower edge signed 'Tho: Tompion Londini Fecit, bolt and shutter lever to side, pinned dial feet
MOVEMENT: the plates joined by five latched and ringed pillars, recoil anchor escapement, bolt and shutter maintaining power, internal countwheel strike to bell, movement bracket, numbered twice to the lower edge of backplate '356', two brass cased weights, later pendulum with brass bob and rating nut below
