The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: Generally good order with minor signs of wear, some slight damage to veneers around walnut escutcheon. Historically sensitive 20th century produced case with interior of aged appearance. Some slight warping overall, the sides a little bowed. The lockplate with an old repair and not currently functioning. The seatboard also probably later 20th century.
DIAL: The chapter ring generally tidy and fairly bright with slight wear to blacking. Hands with a blackened surface, have not been removed, (the pin is very tight). Matted centre generally good. Spandrels possibly replaced.
MOVEMENT: General surface dirt and tarnishing overall, excess of old oil particularly to the backplate. The maintaining power has some possible restoration. The bell is a replacement. Some pinions rebushed, the barrel arbors require rebushing.The case bracket is probably later and its screw is definitely later.
The dial and movement would benefit from a clean and service. The movement has not been tested for timekeeping or duration. Pendulum probably later. Weights later associated. Gut lines fitted.
With two brass cased lead weights; the pendulum probably later, two case keys; and crank winding key with broken wooden handle.
