Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This tripod table is in overall good conserved condition. With the inevitable chips marks and scratches consistent with age and handling. Some evidence of historic woodworm to block, apparently inactive. The dished circular top inlaid with geometric star apparently original. The original bearers with some replaced screws. The banjo catch possibly original and moved by approximately ¼ in to compensate for shrinkage of the beach hinge block. The hinge block apparently reduced in thickness also, to ease tilting of top and with historical worm damage. The top side of the hinge block apparently planed down when column was reglued. The upper and lower faces of hinge block with later colour wash. The brass hasp partially broken and loose. Original castors. Spider plate possibly original. Lovely wear to ‘wolf’ paw feet. Structurally sound and ready to place.
