Lot Essay

These busts are variants of the documented set of twelve busts executed by Willem Danielsz. von Tetrode (1525-1588) for Count Pitigliano. Ultimately, they were acquired by the Medici family and are today in the Uffizi, Florence (Massinelli, loc. cit.).
