Lot Essay

Charles-Louis Méreaud is recorded as a painter of flowers and patterns at the manufactory from 1756-1780. For a cup and saucer of nearly identical decoration, also painted by Mereaud in 1766 (likely part of the same set to the present example), see E.H. Manners, Early Soft Paste French Porcelain, Exhibition catalogue, London, February 2021, no. 43.
