The back plate engraved ‘Cronier A Paris N. 434’, white enamel globe dial, the case enamelled in translucent violet on an engine-turned ground of reeding and pellets centred by a green flowerhead within two rows of opaque white enamel pearls, the borders chased with festoons in polychrome enamel, marked inside the case: charge, letter-date (S) and maker; on the suspension ring: decharge and later control

Cronier A Paris probably refer to Jean-François Cronier fils, possibly a relation of Antoine Crosnier ou Cronier, one of the most important clock makers in Paris in the second half of the 18th century.
