There are the inevitable dents, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks consistent with age and use.
As stated in the catalogue, both armchairs were formerly gilded ; the gilding is almost faded, revealing the bole and the bare wood underneath.
A back foot has been consolidated.
A front foot has been cut then reglued.
The structure has been reinforced with wooden blocks.
There are some cracks to the carving, especially to the upper part of one armchair.
There are some signs of inactive woodworms throughout. Some minor parts of the feet are slightly worm-eaten.
As stated in the catalogue, there are some tears to the tapestry covers ; some threads are pulled.
The colors of the tapestry covers are slightly faded, with signs of dust as expected.
There are some tears to the silk cover to the back of both armchair.
