The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
An attractive pair of japanned hanging corner cupboards which are now supported on giltwood bases and are in overall good restored condition with some typical losses to japanning as visible in catalogue images.
Cresting of both cabinets replaced, urn finials possibly original and re-gilt and stands associated and possibly incorporating period legs. Metalwork, including locks and escutcheons, replaced. The lower plinth moulding of each cabinet later and replacing the original stepped ogee moulding.
Japanning is generally in a stable condition with areas of re-touching and some flaking and loses notably to peripheral areas such as the sides and cupboard doors. Notable losses to raised gilt decoration to one bird and rockwork to one door.
Generally with typical minor old marks scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use.
