After the design by Zinaida Kobyletskaya, painted by Varvara Rukavishnikova, the cavetto and border inscribed in Russian 'Long Live the VIII Congress of Soviets' in stylised script in black and red, further decorated with gilt and sepia painted leaves, wheat and acorns, all within a gilt rim, marked under base with masked Imperial Porcelain Factory mark and blue overglaze hammer, sickle and cog, and the date ‘1920’, also with artist's initials Cyrillic 'VR'
