The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Overall a beautiful and rare design. Re-gilt, probably in the 20th century. With scattered minor chips and rubbing to gilding throughout. Small loss to shells along cresting to proper right side of finial. Small old break to proper right side upper carving at border plate divide-- stable and can be easily re-glued once mirror is in final hanging location. The large crane finial is exceptionally well-carved and dynamic.
A note on construction: The main frame is a series of lapped/halving-joints that hold the main plates. The sides are then built out in deal to provide a substrate to hold the peripheral carving. By attaching the carving in this way, it provides a method of fitting the border glasses and then holding it in place (with the peripheral carving.) This is an 18th century technique which is seen documented mirrors from the mid-18th century.
The mirror plates have all been re-backed, the upper mirror plate beneath cresting a later replacement, the central plate probably also a 19th century replacement, and the border plates largely original and 18th century. Some scattered losses to silvering as to be expected. Ready to hang.
