The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The marble top possibly an old replacement, with some expected light scratches, abrasions and minor 'nibbles'. The body with scattered age and construction cracks, including vertical cracks through the two marquetry panels at the sides. The veneers throughout with scattered fraying, lifting, minor cracks and areas of restoration and infill. Some restorations to each marquetry panel, most prominently above the proper right pull at the upper drawer, as well as to the strapwork frame around the central panel. There is some old inactive worm damage to the carcase. A piece of the upper back rail off but retained, not visible when the marble is placed. The ormolu mounts appear to retain their mercury gilding but show signs of thorough cleaning. Some minor areas of debris accumulation in recessed areas. Overall presenting well, ready to place.
