On four large cast scroll, shell and foliate supports, the lobed circular body engraved on either side with the royal arms below a gadroon rim, with foliate reed and lion mask handles, the domed cover with gadrooned border centering a finial fully modeled as a crest of a lion rampant holding an arrow, engraved on either side with the royal badge, marked throughout

The crest on the present lot is that of Canning for George Canning (1770-1827), celebrated orator, diplomat, statesman, and Prime Minister, almost certainly for use during his embassy to Portugal.
