The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Good overall presentation. The dial with the expected light scratches; a few faint hairlines between III and III, and a small cluster of hairlines near VI; some small chips around the winding holes, as is typical. The ormolu case with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected. The matte/warmer-toned areas with generally well-preserved gilding; the burnished areas overall with more losses to the gilding, showing the pinker tone of the base metal, possibly the result of cleaning. The front proper-right foot at a slight angle. There is a garland mount lacking at the side of the base on the proper left side, and parts of two on the other side. The hands are replaced; each slightly bent.
Please note: Christie's does not guarantee the working condition of clocks, which should be examined by a qualified restorer; at present, the hands cannot be rotated further.
