The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall good condition, with a clean, complete appearance. The urn body is slightly off-vertical. The blue-john stone overall with the expected scratches, scuffs and 'nibbles' consistent with age; some infill to the stone which is mostly likely dating to the time of manufacture, and scattered infill which is apparently later and has yellowed. The black stone foot with a few small chips. The ormolu with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected. Some of the mounts, such as those just below the urn body, have a somewhat greenish tone. There is some glue residue between the rams' horns and the shoulder. Lacking the time-indicator at the serpent's mouth. The enameled rings with scattered hairlines and small chips and losses, a few small losses to the gilt dots and fleurs-de-lys applied to these. Overall good, ready to place.
