The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In overall good condition, complete appearance, structurally sound and ready to place. Scattered age and construction cracks, not extensive, including general craquelure to the vernis decoration. Some losses and lifting to flakes at the vernis and gilding, mainly around the legs, and some restorations, not extensive. As stated in the cataloguing, probably later decorated; possibly originally conceived for marquetry. The ormolu mounts with some minor surface scratches, slight casting inconsistencies, light oxidation and rubbing, as to be expected, generally with a dappled patina. The drawer bottoms each with tacks around their edges, where they previously held lining paper. The marble generally presenting well, overall with the typical scratches throughout and some chips and 'nibbles', mainly along its back edge, consistent with use and handling, some repairs including one bisecting the slab diagonally near the short axis. Overall good presentation, ready to place.
