The white enameled dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the case cast with foliate scrolls, flowers and a tied ribbon, signed 'AMY DENTAN A PARIS' at the dial and 'AMY DANTAN A PARI' [sic] at the movement, the bezel around the glass scratched with restorers' marks

Lot Essay

Amy Dentan or Dantan, maître horloger in 1754, is recorded with both spellings of his name. He is recorded on the rue de la Calandre from 1757-1772, and on the quai des Ormes in 1783 as a marchand de bois.
