Marc Souchay (1730-1811) est avec son frère Esaias (1723-1791) le fils du huguenot Jacques Souchay de la Duboissière qui s’établit à Hanau en 1714 après avoir travaillé à Paris puis à Geneve. Au décès de leur père c’est Esaias l’aîné qui reprend l’atelier paternel rejoint par Marc André après 1750. Ils utilisent alors comme poinçon ‘FS’. L’affaire va prospérer et être active jusqu’à ce que Esaias se retire en 1789 laissant a Marc la charge de l’entreprise qu’il assume jusqu’à son décès en 1811. Voir pour la biograhie: H. Marks clear to legible. Some tiny spots of restoration in the white section only visible under magnifying glass. Light bruise on one side panel. Very light wear at corners on underside.
