Le tableau a fait l’objet d’un rentoilage un peu fort qui a pu tasser la matière picturale par endroits.
A l’œil nu, on constate des retouches ayant viré dans les fonds. On constate une retouche plus débordante dans le coin inférieur gauche. Le tableau est encrassé.
A l’UV, on constate des retouches le long des quatre bords, probablement suite au frottement de l’encadrement. On constate une petite retouche ponctuelle récente dans le nez du modèle. La retouche précédemment mentionnée dans le coin inférieur gauche est également visible. On constate aussi des petites retouches ponctuelles dans le costume du personnage. Sous un vernis homogène avec des traces de vieux vernis dans le coin inférieur droit.
Dans un cadre mouluré doré (approx. 75 x 63 x 5 cm.).

The painting presents very well in natural light, with the detail of composition well preserved.
The canvas has been subject to relining, it is held under correct tension and remains stable. The relining table has slightly flattened the paint surface in areas.
In natural light some retouching can be seen in the background. An area of restoration can also be seen in the lower left corner. There is some surface dirt that might benefit from a light clean.
Examination under UV light confirms the above and further reveals retouching to the four edges, likely the result of historic frame abrasion. There is a small spot of retouching on the sitter's nose that appears to be more recent. There is some minor scattered retouching in the sitter's dress. There is an even varnish, with traces of an older varnish in the lower right corner.
