The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Pile ranges from approximately 1⁄8 in. in isolated indigo areas and medium blues in the upper end, to low to knotheads and scattered spot foundation. Some scattered foldwear throughout, most extensive to one ivory lozenge and surroundings at the right side around the center. Issuing from the 9 o'clock position of the same lozenge and extending approx. 5 ft. into the field, there is an irregularly shaped old reweave, which is about 12 in. at its widest and 2 in. at its narrowest; this reweave is well-executed, now with slightly higher pile and minor color difference. An approx. 5 in. by 8 in. reweave to the left side further down, now faded. An approx. 8 in. by 7 in. reweave along the lower-end guard border. A small 2 in. restitched area at upper end of field. Some scattered repiling to the old foldwear. Some scattered spots, stains and surface dirt, should enhance with cleaning. The field with natural abrash. Sides later overcast and now with some losses to selvedges, not extensive. Missing an outer guard stripe, minor partial outer guard borders at each end. Each end secured with a chainstitch, which is now loose and with losses in the lower end, which is now with some losses to the pile, recommend securing. Flexible handle, sound fabric, very attractive design, will enhance with some cleaning and restorations to the ends and sides.
