A clock of the same model, by Julien Le Roy (maître in 1713, d. 1759), horloger ordinaire du Roi, was sold Christie's, London, 14 Dec 2006, lot 23. The picturesque flower-festooned clock is modeled with emblems of Love's dominion, its water-scalloped reeds borne by Cupid, and its triumphal arched pediment providing a trellised arbor for the celestial doves of Venus. A trophy of Cupid's weapons surmounts a third clock of this model, which also bears the name of Julien Le Roy as well as the crowned 'C' tax-brand in use in during the later 1740s, sold Christie's London, April 1965, lot 34. A variant of this model, with movement by Denis Masson à Paris, is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, La Pendule Française, Paris, 1997, p. 100, fig. d.
