拍品專文

In May of 1774 Louis XVI went from being the dauphin of France to its king. It is interesting to speculate whether this plaque, its vase decorated with dolphins (a play on the word dauphin) and jubilant putti, is in celebration of this transition of power.

Jean-Nicolas Le Bel le jeune is recoded as a flower painter at the Sèvres manufactory from 1765-1793.
