Each on stepped square base, the plinth chased with laurel garland with ram's mask at each corner and applied with four medallions, the column shaped stem with Ionic capital for one pair and Corinthian capital for the other, engraved on the medaillon with two coats-of-arms, a crest and initials, filled, marked on foot-rim and two nozzles

The initials on the Cripps candlesticks are 'I.C.A.R.', and 'H.E.W.' on the Carter candlesticks.
The arms and one of the crests are those of Marjoribanks quartering Stewart.
The other crest, initials HEW and armorials on the William Cripps pair are for Wadham impaling Humfrey.
