With the inevitable knocks, chips, and wear consistent with age and use.
The top sits relatively loosely on the base.
Repair to the back of the cornice.
Minor cracks to the veneers throughout.
There has been some restoration to the bureau secretaire including patched repairs to the star on the right door.
Inscription in pencil to underside of dustboard 'Polished by (?) 189...'
Repair to bottom board.
Two later folio divides.
Fillet inserted into top of backboard.
Moulding replaced to the inside of the cupboard doors.
The handles probably replaced.
Some larger areas of repaired veneers throughout, for example to the lower inside edge of both doors.
Edge banding to back of both sides largely replaced.
Repairs to star inlay on the apron.
This bureau secretaire maintains a rich and well preserved surface.
Various repairs to bracket feet and replacements to blocking.
