Lot Essay

An almost identical pair of candelabra, with white marble bases, are currently preserved in the Munich Residenz, illustrated H. Ottomeyer, P. Pröschel, et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. I, p.211. A number of related candelabra with identical or closely related female figures are preserved in a number of European royal collections, including the Royal Castle of Warsaw and the Munich Residenz.
