The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In good overall condition.
The stools have been stylishly upholstered in silk, in very good condition.
There are some minor losses to the grained decoration, in some places showing the white gesso beneath.
Repaired break to the arm of one stool, with subsequent redecoration and more recent touch ups.
There is wear to the gilding and to the painted decoration around the arm supports and particularly to the scroll ends.
One stool with cracks and shrinkage with subsequent losses to the decoration through the middle of the banded foliage.
There are screwed repairs to the undersides of both stools, with associated retouching to the grained decoration, from previous break through the 'X' frame and regessoing.
Some further cracks and losses to the decoration along previous breaks to the centre of the rails of each stool.
Two braces on underside replaced.
