Overall in good 'country house' condition. The whole set with largely refreshed decoration as stated in the cataloguing. The expected chips marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Chips to the polychrome revealing the gesso, previous paint layers and wooden carcass. Evidence of historic and apparently inactive woodworm.
Chair A with later replaced side rails and large chip and crack to carved top rail.
Chair B with repairs and reinforcements to the front rail and new side rail.
Chair C with shrinkage to left leg upper join.
Chair D with repaired split to left section of top rail.
Chair E of recent manufacture as stated in the cataloguing.
Chair F with cracks and shrinkage around joins, with further minor fractures to seat
Chair G of recent manufacture as stated in the cataloguing.
Chair H with later reinforcement blocks to back rail and carved top rail with repaired breaks.
Armchair I with repaired break to right scrolling arm, to top front right leg, and the seat rails are restored with subsequent reshaping to the inner rails
Armchair J with later reinforcements to front rail and large repaired section to side rail due to historic, but apparently inactive, woodworm.
