General Philip Henry Sheridan was one of the most successful commanders of the Union cavalry. This painting depicts Company L of a cavalry regiment deployed and ready for battle early on the morning of October 19th, 1864 outside Cedar Creek.

Board is very slightly bowed. Minor frame abrasion along the extreme edges. A one-inch abrasion in the upper left quadrant. Under ultraviolet light, no apparent inpainting.
