The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
CASE: Generally good. Some old shrinkage. Indentations and abrasions consistent with age and use. The Sound frets probably replaced, with new backing fabric and carcass support to the interior. The rear inner carcass with two vacant holes probably from former movement brackets suggesting the case may have been originally intended for a different movement. The seatboard raised on two added elements of wood. Locks to both doors replaced.
DIAL: some light pitting and surface scratches to the dial. Some slight crazing to the wax chapters. Hands a little dirty and tarnished. The spandrels possibly later replaced.
MOVEMENT: reconverted verge escapement with filled holes and adaptations evident. The crown wheel teeth tarnished and dirty. The bell possibly a later replacement. Currently ticking and striking but not tested for timekeeping or duration.
With pendulum, case key and crank handled winding key.
