Decorated on each side with ribbon-tied floral sprays within a scrolling cartouche, the rectangular hinged top decorated with a flowering basket enclosing a spring-loaded compartment within it and opening to reveal a plain compartment with a false spring-loaded floor concealing a further compartment, the sides lifting to reveal a removable secret drawer on the bottom right side of the strongbox, concealing a further compartment released from within, mounted on each side with handles, stamped 'B PERIDIEZ' and 'JME'

Brice Peridiez, maître in 1737.

Also known as Peridiez le père, Peridiez had three sons who were all ébénistes, Gérard, Louis and Pierre-Mathieu. He is know to have worked extensively with his contemporary, the marchand-ébéniste Pierre IV Migeon.
