The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In overall good condition.
With the inevitable knocks, marks, losses, scratches and shrinkage cracks, consistent with age and use.
Some chips and losses to the carving.
One acanthus swag replaced.
The plates apparently original.
Refreshments to the gilding.
The gilding rubbed and chipped revealing the bole and gesso layers beneath.
Both examples with shrinkage to the frame, as to be expected through construction.
The plates with some minor foxing and possibly original, one example with a more distinct sparkle.
One example with inscription reading 'Long Hall' to the reverse.
Otherwise both structurally stable and ready to hang.
