Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Some scattered areas of reweave throughout, some better executed than others and are consistent with age. The most obvious reweave is the name placard for ‘PALLAS’. Scattered slits at color changes, most of them are now re-stitched, but some may benefit from restoration. Generally the largest rewoven areas are to the central female figure’s skirt. The greens, reds and blues are best preserved in the very attractive border with lovely drawing. Scattered reweaves to the lower right border where the signature is located. The top end and sides later bend with a flat woven banding. With a new clean, well-preserved linen backing. The top end with burlap hanging rings sewn on reverse. In overall stable condition and ready to hang.
