The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Not examined out of frame. The canvas has been relined and is slightly loose in its frame. With frame abrasion to the extreme edges, most notably to the upper edge and with associated small pigment losses. Minor surface soiling. The canvas has been cleaned and revarnished. Scattered areas of unobtrusive fine lines of craquelure. Under natural light, scattered touch-ups are evident, including to the proper right roof line, the chair back of the woman sitting at center, and to a repair in the lower right quadrant. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned retouching and further scattered short strokes of inpainting. The canvas presents with a milky green varnish.
