Not examined out of frame. The canvas has been relined. Minor frame abrasion to the extreme edges. Very minor surface soiling. The canvas cleaned and revarnished. Under natural light, a horizontal abrasion to the upper left quadrant near the woman's forehead. There is a repaired tear issuing from the upper edge and extending vertically along the furthermost left edge of the screen in the background, and curving to the left towards the man's proper left shoulder. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms the aforementioned restoration and some scattered small touch-ups. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the condition of frames.
