Each not examined out of frame. Each with frame abrasion to the extreme edges and with surface soiling. Please note that Christie's does not guarantee the condition of frames.
Bay Middleton -- the support is Stable. Overall with notable lines of craquelure and scattered pigment losses. Under UV light, the aforementioned craquelure flouresces, with notable strokes of craquelure fill and some additional strokes of inpainting, including to the horse and to the lower foreground.
Lucetta -- overall fine lines of craquelure. With scattered abrasions and associated pigment loss, including one to the horse's proper rear left leg, and to the center left edge in the mountains. Examined under ultraviolet light, canvas presents with a milky green varnish. Scattered short strokes of inpainting are visible and flouresces. With an original letter dated 1830 affixed to the reverse.
