The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The cabinet is in overall good condition and ready to place with additional care and handling due to scale. The beveled marble top with nicks and 'nibbles' to the edges, as to be expected with age and use. Both back corners repairs with areas of matching infill. The top reinforced with a metal brace as viewed from the undeside. The bronzes with a bright appearance overall owning to significant cleaning and possible regilding. The mounts finely cast throughout. Lacking a small framing mount to the lower proper-left side of vitrine. The back legs have been shimmed to secure the bronzes firmly. The veneers with minor nicks to the edges, including a small filled loss (1 in. x 1 in.) to the left back side at the middle. Some superficial surface cracks to veneers at the construction joints, particularly at the legs where the most weight is supported. The vernis martin panel with some refreshment to the decoration and overpaintings. Evidence of a clear varnish to minimize cracquelure. Four glass shelves, some with minor nicks and nibbles. One key.
The interior of the cabinet now fitted with lighting and drilled with wiring through the lower back of the carcass. Christie's cannot comment on the functioning of the wiring, as it should be inspected by a qualified professional prior to use.
