拍品專文

This impressive desk is based on a  design for a ‘Library Table’ in Thomas Chippendale’s celebrated and influential pattern book The Gentlemens & Cabinet-Makers Director, plate LXXX in the 1762 edition.

The firm of H. Samuel was active as a ‘dealer in works of art’ in the late 19th century and was recorded at 484 Oxford Street from 1898-1900.
