The design for this mirror is derived from a pattern published in Thomas Chippendale's The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, 1763, pl. CLXIX. A similar mirror at Crichel House, Dorset is illustrated in A. Coleridge, Chippendale Furniture, New York, 1968, fig. 316.
