The coat-of-arms and crest found on the present lot are those of Bolton.

A pair of sauce tureens and covers of nearly identical design and with lion-form finials, formerly in the collection of President John Adams, are illustrated in M. Moss, The Lillian and Morrie Moss Collection of Paul Storr Silver, Miami, 1972, pp. 76-77, plate 16.
